Coming Soon to a Campus Near You: Shows You Won't See Elsewhere
Living in a "university city" means great performances in intimate venues.
One benefit of living in a "university city" like Atlanta: the chance to see great performances that might not fill a major venue. Campus performing arts centers play a starring role in the fall performing arts season now under way in the Atlanta region, where you can catch acts as diverse as Swamp Gravy and Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Laurie Anderson and Del McCoury, or the Academy of Ancient Music and the Dirty Sock Funtime Band.
These smaller venues bring variety and range to local cultural offerings. They book an eclectic mix of music, dance and theater that's open to the public - in intimate venues for a reasonable price. And their patrons fuel commerce in restaurants and other retail in their neighborhoods.
